Furniture Care Guide

Good furniture, cared for properly, can last 20–30 years without problems.

CARING FOR FABRIC FURNITURE

Act on Stains Immediately:

1. Blot — don't rub
2. Cold water + a drop of soap
3. Wipe from the outside in
4. Dry straight away

By Fabric Type:

• Velvet: Brush in the direction of the pile
• Microfibre: Cleans easily with a damp cloth
• Linen: Cold water — hot water shrinks it

Annual Deep Clean: Steam cleaner (30 cm distance) or professional upholstery cleaning.

CARING FOR WOODEN FURNITURE

Golden Rules:

• Dust dry first
• Wipe along the grain
• Wet the cloth and wring it out well — it must not drip
• Dry immediately

Practical Fixes:

• Surface scratch → Rub with a walnut kernel (its natural oil hides it!)
• Water mark → Hair dryer on low heat
• Twice a year: wood care oil

Avoid:
❌ Closer than 50 cm to a radiator
❌ Direct sunlight
❌ Silicone sprays (they leave a film)

CARING FOR LEATHER FURNITURE

Weekly: Dry dusting → Slightly damp cloth → Dry immediately

Monthly: Leather cleaner + protective cream

Emergency Stains:

• Water-based → Blot, don't rub
• Grease → Corn starch, wait 20 min, brush off

Never:
❌ Vinegar (upsets the pH)
❌ Hard brushes (they scratch)
❌ Direct sunlight (fades and cracks)
❌ Under a plastic cover (mould)
